Kingwood man dies in 2-vehicle wreck in Polk County

GOODRICH, TX (KTRE) - One person died in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred in Goodrich in Polk County Tuesday morning.

In addition, two people were taken to Houston-area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to and investigated a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Loop 393 at about 11:15 a.m.

The preliminary crash investigation shows that Yenny Heiman, 59, of Montgomery, was driving a 2014 Mazda SUV when he failed to yield the right of way from Loop 393 and drove into the path of a 200 Ford SUV driven by Francisco Garcia, 44, of Livingston.

Ubolrat Copeland, 72, of Kingwood, was pronounced dead at the scene, the press release stated. He was a passenger in the Mazda.

Heiman was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, and Boonkient Veetrakul, who was also a passenger in the Mazda was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Veetrakul, 74, is from Tomball.

Garcia was not injured in the crash.

The wreck is still under investigation.
