POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - DPS is currently investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian wreck.
The crash occurred Thursday, about one mile west of Livingston in Polk County on US 190 around 10:30 p.m.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a motorist, traveling west, was encountered by a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. The driver of the westbound vehicle reportedly slowed down to avoid the wrong way driver and was struck from behind by another vehicle.
Moments later another motorist stopped on the westbound shoulder to assist the occupants involved in the previous crash and was struck by a 2006 Saturn SUV while attempting to cross the roadway.
The pedestrian, identified as Angel Saez, 46, from Onalaska, TX. was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, Lorenzo Johnson, 57, also from Onalaska, was not injured during the crash.
The operator of the vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on US 190 has not been located at this time. Anyone with any information is asked to contact law enforcement.
This crash remains under investigation.
