LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

There will soon be a new temporary resident at the Ellen Trout Zoo - Quigley the porcupine.

Lufkin police say Quigley was abandoned by his mother. He's now headed to Ellen Trout Zoo for rehabilitation.

"The chiefs found him this weekend," the police department said in a Facebook post. "Former Chief Scott Marcotte said Quigley does not make the greatest sleeping buddy."

Police say Quigley will eventually be released into the wild.
