GOODRICH, TX (KTRE) - A second person who was involved in a two-vehicle wreck near Goodrich that occurred on April 17 has died, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Sgt. David Hendry, a DPS spokesman, said Monday morning that the updated fatality report shows that Boonkient Veetrakul, 74, of Tomball, died on April 19 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Ubolrat Copeland, 72, of Kingwood, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
According to a press release, DPS troopers responded to and investigated a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Loop 393 at about 11:15 a.m.
The preliminary crash investigation shows that Yenny Heiman, 59, of Montgomery, was driving a 2014 Mazda SUV when he failed to yield the right of way from Loop 393 and drove into the path of a 2000 Ford SUV driven by a 44-year-old Livingston.
Veetrakul and Copeland were both passengers in the Mazda.
Heiman was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, and Veetrakul, who was also a passenger in the Mazda was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Veetrakul, 74, is from Tomball.
The driver of the Ford was not injured in the wreck.
