Nacogdoches County woman who went on run with baby surrenders to authorities

From the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office

NACOGDOCHES, TX (News Release) - Carie Durrett, 38 years of age, turned herself into authorities on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office on charges of interference of child custody, a state jail felony, and a motion to revoke probation warrant. Durrett was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail. Before turning herself in to authorities, Durrett turned her 9-month-old child over to Child Protective Services.

The investigation started in March 2018, when an order was issued by the court for Durrett to surrender her child over to CPS. Durrett was notified of the court order and took her child and has been on the run since that time. The child was entered as a missing person, and charges were filed against Durrett for interference of child custody. A motion to revoke probation warrant was also later filed against Durrett.

Sheriff investigators tracked Durrett to several locations during the investigation, and only apparently missed locating her at a couple different locations by a few hours.

Durrett notified authorities that she wished to surrender. On Thursday evening, Durrett turned over her child to CPS authorities in a nearby county. The child has been reported as being in good health and has been cleared as a missing person.
