Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man who fled Alto police Monday.

Sheriff Jason Bridges posted on the office’s Facebook page that the man was arrested after a resident reported a suspicious man walking on State Highway 21 near County Road 3. Deputies arrived in the area and identified him as the suspect and arrested him on a misdemeanor charge, Bridges stated.

According to Alto police, officers had stopped the suspect, identified as Royce Braselton, after the car he was riding in was speeding. Braselton was a passenger in the car and ran away during the stop, according to police.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said that Braselton was charged with Class C misdemeanor walking on the wrong side of the road. He did not receive a bond, and he was released by the jail administrator.

The chase eventually ended up in the Douglass area Monday night and deputies did an all-night search.
