JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A house fire in the Peachtree community in Jasper County destroyed a home and two vehicles Sunday afternoon.
No one was home when the fire started, and no one was injured.
Brandon Duckworth, Jasper's fire marshal, said the fire occurred at a home on County Road 108-B near Jasper. He said fire crews were dispatched out to the blaze at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
Firefighters from the Jasper, Angelina River, and Lake Rayburn volunteer firefighters responded to the blaze.
Duckworth said that the home was a total loss. He added that the fire spread so quickly that the home has collapsed by the time fire crews arrived on the scene.
The fire also destroyed an outbuilding and two vehicles. A third vehicle was damaged in the fire.
Duckworth said the cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time. However, he said that a woman who lived in the home said that she smelled something electrical burning in the front part of the house before the fire started.
A story on the KJAS.com website said the occupants of the home lost everything they owned in the fire.
