SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's office arrested a grandmother and two of her grandsons in connection to allegations that she shot her live-in boyfriend in the back after the two grandsons assaulted the man.
Anita Hernandez Quinn, 61, of San Augustine, Shawn Michael Faver, 23, of Hemphill, and Robert Richard White Jr., 21, of Pineland, were all arrested and charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault of a family member with a weapon and first-degree felony engaging in organized criminal activity.
All three suspects posted bail on collective bond amounts of $20,000 each.
According to the probable cause affidavit, East Texas News obtained on Tuesday, the charges stem from a domestic disturbance that occurred at a home at 300A County Road 3362 on April 15. Quinn and her live-in boyfriend, the victim, had been arguing all morning when Quinn allegedly contacted Faver and White, her grandsons.
Faver and White arrived at the home without the victim knowing they were there, the affidavit stated. When the two young men spoke to the victim, he fled out the back door and headed through the high line toward a neighbor's house.
However, Faver and White caught up to the victim somewhere in the field between the two houses. Faver and White allegedly assaulted the man. According to the affidavit, the victim suffered visible injuries to his face and marks on his left side where he was kicked in the ribs, the affidavit stated.
After the assault, Faver and White escorted the victim back to the house at gunpoint, the affidavit stated. At that point, Quinn and her two grandsons told the victim to "get his stuff and get out."
The victim went upstairs in an effort to grab some of his belongings, and he was allegedly followed by Quinn and her grandsons.
Because there was no other mode of transportation available, the victim grabbed the keys to a four-wheeler. After the victim got on the four-wheeler and tried to leave, Quinn shot him in the back, the affidavit stated.
"[Quinn] stated that she shot to scare him but not to hit him," the affidavit stated. "The victim, who was physically assaulted by two grandsons and shot by the girlfriend, jumped off the 4-wheeler, stating, 'You shot me' and ran into a nearby wooded area."
On the other side of the wooded area, the victim asked neighbors for help.
The affidavit did not give any information on the victim's condition.
