LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After almost four hours of deliberations, an Angelina County jury reached a sentencing verdict for a Lufkin man accused of molesting a child in 2017.
On Thursday in Judge Paul White's courtroom, a jury sentenced Mauricio Chacon, 48, to four and a half years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison for attempted sexual assault, and required he pay a $10,000 fine.
In April, the same jury found Chacon not guilty of indecency with a child, but guilty of attempted sexual assault.
Chacon was arrested in September of 2017 after a 16-year-old girl said Chacon tried to touch her inappropriately.
A jury deliberated for 10 hours during the trial in April
