Passenger killed in Polk County wreck on Hwy 59 identified

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - DPS has identified the person killed in a two-vehicle crash in Polk County, Friday.

Jeremy Jones, 36, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on U.S. Highway 59, two miles north of Corrigan, around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by Javan Bluford, 20, of San Augustine, was traveling north on US 59. The pickup reportedly hydroplaned and slid through the grass median and struck a southbound 2013 Hyundai passenger car, driven by Larece Perry, 44, of Coldspring, Texas.

Bluford was taken to CHI St. Luke's hospital in Livingston. Perry was taken to CHI St. Luke's Hospital in Lufkin. Jones was a passenger in Perry's vehicle.

DPS says the crash remains under investigation at this time.
