ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 20-year-old Diboll man died in a two-vehicle wreck involving an 18-wheeler and a pickup that occurred Sunday morning on FM 1818.

According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to and investigated the crash, which occurred at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday about four miles east of Diboll.

The preliminary crash report shows that Noah Berry, 42, of Lovelady, was driving a 2001 Peterbilt truck-tractor/semi-trailer rig east on FM 1818. At the same time, Baltazar Lara Jr. was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup west on the same road.

"For unknown reasons, the Dodge crossed over the center of the roadway and struck the Peterbilt head-on," the press release stated.

An Angelina County justice of the peace pronounced Lara dead at the scene. Berry was taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The wreck is still under investigation.
