Doctor's Offering Assistance

by Jessica Cervantez

Many people in the medical field are offering their time and services to help the victims of Katrina. They consider it their way of giving back.

Dr. Wasim Kahn worked at a storm evacuee shelter this weekend. Besides treating scrapes and bruises, the biggest need doctors are seeing is giving evacuees their medications.

Dr. Kahn said, "We've got a whole stock of medicine, that the Angelina County and Cities Health District has provided. And local pharmacies have donated gift cards so that evacuees can take their medicine as well."

Dr. Kahn says the best way people can help is buy donating gift cards, so people can buy more medicine.
