SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - One person was taken to an area hospital after a two-vehicle wreck on State Highway 21 in Sabine County that caused the road to be blocked for part of the day Thursday.
Sgt. David Hendry, a spokesman for the Texas Department, said that the section of SH 21 that had been closed because of the wreck is now open again. Both directions of travel had been closed.
According to a press release, the two-vehicle wreck occurred on SH 21 about nine miles east of Hemphill. The wreck happened at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
The preliminary crash report shows that a 54-year-old Hemphill man was driving a 2004 Ford pickup west on SH 21 when he tried to turn left into a private drive. His pickup was struck from behind by a westbound 2005 Peterbilt truck-tractor semi-trailer drive by Claude Daniels, 58, of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Daniels was taken to an area hospital for treatment of possible injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured in the wreck, the press release stated.
