The Softball Regional Quarterfinals started on Thursday with a big 2A matchup.
Grapeland and West Sabine went at it in Nacogdoches on Thursday night in Game 1 action.
Grapeland entered the contest 28-7-2 on the year and beat Big Sandy Dallardsville 14-0, 23-0 in two games of Round 2. West Sabine entered the contest 25-4 and beat Joaquin 6-1, 8-1 in two straight games after losing their series opener to the Lady Rams in Round 2.
Grapeland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the game. In the second inning West Sabine would score on an error at first. Each team's defense would then step up and the game saw three straight scoreless innings. West Sabine would get a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh. Grapeland was unable to score in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lady Tigers lead the series 1-0. Game two will be in Nacogdoches on Friday night at 6 pm. If a game 3 is needed it will be on Saturday at 1 pm.
