LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) - Livingston ISD has a new head football coach leading the district.
Recently, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved Finis Vanover to be the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for Livingston High School.
Vanover has 32 years of experience at the 4A, 5A and 6A levels, according to a news release from the district. Vanover also led teams to 175 victories and a 5A state championship during his career.
"He has a well-known passion for the job and a work ethic second to none," Jennifer Birdwell said in the release. Birdwell is the director of communications for the district.
Vanover worked for six years as the Athletic Coordinator-Head Football Coach at Tomball Memorial High School and during that time all of the sports at the high school made the playoffs.
He has also worked in school districts in Angleton, Diboll, Seminole, Forth Worth, Hardin and Jefferson.
In addition to coaching football, Vanover has coached track and field and powerlifting.
