Jasper PD: 1 person in custody after stabbing incident that injured 2 people

JASPER, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Jasper Police Department arrested a 49-year-old man Tuesday evening in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred within the city limits.

Lt. Garrett Foster said the Jasper Police Department is not releasing the suspect’s name because he has not been arraigned yet.

According to a press release, Jasper Police Department Dispatch notified all units of fight in progress at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.

“Officers learned that what started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into one suspect brandishing a knife,” the press release stated. “During the altercation, Christoper Spikes was cut and stabbed with non-life-threatening injuries, and Kevin Jefferson was also stabbed and at last word is in critical condition at Christus-St.. Elizabeth in Beaumont.”

The 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
