SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

After the San Augustine County Sheriff’s Office K9 was called out to assist with a traffic stop on State Highway 96 Friday morning, law enforcement seized about 250 pounds of marijuana.

Christopher James Metz, 47, of Little Rock, Arkansas, was arrested and charged with second-degree felony possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds. His bond amount was set at $100,000.

According to a post on the San Augustine Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Kane, the SACSO K9, was called to assist Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Dustin Ramos on a traffic stop on Highway 96.

When Kane and Lt. Robert Brazeal, the dog's handler, searched a Western Star 18-wheeler from Arkansas, they found about 250 pounds of marijuana in the truck’s cab, the Facebook post stated.
