LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A 32-year-old man is behind bars on Monday on a charge of assaulting a public servant after he spat on law enforcement.
An officer with the Lufkin Police Department responded to a call of a major accident near the Burke city limits on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. When he arrived along with an off-duty Lufkin PD officer, Bryant Davis started fleeing on foot. During the struggle, Davis started spitting on one of officers until he was tazed and secured.
The wreck is being investigated by trooper with Department of Public Safety.
Davis faces a DWI charge from DPS and assault of a public servant by Lufkin Police Department.
In total, bond is set at $50,000.
