East Texas man charged with assault of a public servant

A Colmesneil man has been charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, and assault of a public servant.

According to Tyler County Sheriff's Office (TCSO), Deputies responded to a residence on County Road 4094 for a follow up investigation regarding theft on May 26.

As Deputies exited their patrol unit, they observed a white-male take off running.

Deputies ordered him to stop.

The male subject identified as Ronzie Bankston, ran into an abandoned house where he tripped and fell.

Authorities say as they began to handcuff Bankston, he started kicking and struggling in an attempt to flee.

Deputies say the 39-year-old continued to resist, ignoring their commands.

Bankston had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, a motion to revoke his probation for having Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility and a Failure to Appear on the same charge, according to TCSO.

Bankston currently remains in the Tyler County Jail with a $15,000 bond and two No Bonds set by District Judge Delinda Gibbs-Walker.
