Man who allegedly struck waitress, fled scene of Trinity County wreck jailed

TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas man who allegedly struck a waitress and fled the scene of a wreck is facing a slew of charges.

Kristopher Payne was arrested by a Trinity County Sheriff's Office deputy.

According to the department, when the deputy found Payne he was walking down the street intoxicated at FM 1893 at Old Johnson Farm Road.

Mary Wallace, with the TCSO, said Payne had run off the road, wrecked his vehicle and then left the scene on foot. Earlier in the evening, he dined at a restaurant and allegedly skipped out on the check.

Wallace said that when a waitress confronted him about his bill, he allegedly struck her.

When Payne was apprehended, Wallace says he was combative.

He was arrested and charged with robbery, assault, and resisting arrest/search/transport.
