The numbers district-wide show a 72 percent passing rate for fifth graders in reading and an 84 percent passing rate in math, and the passing rate for eighth graders is 73 percent in reading and
"Overall, on the district-wide number, yes, the district is looking better," said Les Linebarger, Nacogdoches ISD's director of public relations. "We still have yet to break down those numbers by campus and get into the nuts and bolts of what's taking place at each campus and that includes the two IR campuses and all of our campuses, as well."
Students who failed the STAAR test a second time will be encouraged to take it a third time, following summer school tutoring.
A campus breakdown of scores should be released at the next board meeting on June 21st.
A Texas Education Agency decision on the future of NISD's IR campuses won't come until August.
