LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas non profit organization is gearing up for its annual Grief Camp.

The Lizzie Wallace Memorial Grief Camp is tailored to help children through their grief after a loss of a loved one. The camps honors Wallace, who was 19, and died of liver cancer in 2014.
Organizer Mia Martin said the camps gives an opportunity for children to learn healthy coping skills and on how to honor a loved one during their birthdays or anniversary of the death.
"Every person goes through grief in a different way," Martin said. "Children go through it differently. Sometimes they may not have the words to talk about their emotions or their feelings. Sometimes they need help figuring out how to cope with their anger due to the loss or having trouble expressing themselves. So we go through things and we talk about ways to cope with our emotions."

The camp starts Monday and runs through the week. It will be located at The Rock House at Chambers Park.
