ROUND ROCK, TX (KTRE) - Two East Texas schools have brought home state baseball titles to East Texas from the UIL Championships in Round Rock.
In 2A, Dallardsville Big Sandy took on Muenster in a rematch of last year's championship game. The Hornets won last year, but pitching was an issue today for Muenster. The Wildcats of Big Sandy scored 4 runs in the first inning on zero hits. The game ended early in he 5th inning due to the "mercy rule" with Big Sandy winning 13-3.
Brandon Hendrix brought home the game's MVP award for Big Sandy. This was the school's first ever baseball championship.
in 1A action, a week after Slocum brought home the softball championship, the baseball team was able to do the same. Despite leaving nine runners on base, the Mustangs were able to win 6-3 over Fayeteville. Austin Sarraf brought home the games' MVP honors.
