LUFKIN, TX - (News Release) - The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Tara Watson-Watkins has been selected as the Chamber's new President and CEO. After an extensive search, the Chamber's Board of Directors has voted to approve Watson-Watkins for the position. She will assume responsibilities in July.
"I am honored to have been chosen as the new President of the Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to working with the Chamber's partners, the City of Lufkin, our economic development partners as well as the business community to continue to grow Lufkin," said Tara Watson-Watkins.
Watson-Watkins is a Lufkin native with very strong ties to the community. She has served as the Executive Director of the Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau for the past nine years and concurrently as Artistic Director of the Pines Theater for the past five years. Prior to that, she held various marketing positions with Woodland Heights Medical Center. An alum of TCU and Lufkin High School, Watson-Watkins is also a graduate of both Leadership Lufkin and Leadership Texas.
A strong supporter of volunteerism, Watson-Watkins currently serves on the boards of the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation and Pinecrest Retirement Community. She is the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow- Service Above Self Rotary Award. In addition, she has served in leadership roles with multiple other organizations, including Junior League of Lufkin, Hospice in the Pines, Angelina County Vision 2020, Angelina Beautiful/Clean, Young Life and United Way.
