Sheriff's Department Needs Gas Money

by Jessica Cervantez

High gas prices are causing concerns with county budgets. Angelina County Sheriff Kent Henson doesn't have enough money in his budget for gas.

With a $90-thousand fuel budget for the year, the sheriff says he will need $30-thousand more to cover expenses. He is looking for ways to cut fuel costs. But, he is running out of solutions.

Sheriff Henson said, "We've got people riding two to a car during non-peak time, but during the peak time, we're not going to cut the criminals a break. We've got a job, we've got an obligation to do, we're going to fulfill our obligation."
