Second day of trial continues in fatal 2016 Crockett shooting

HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - During the second day of trial, the state continued to present further evidence where the wife of the murder victim took the stand for a 2016 shooting in Crockett.

Leonard Intelisano appeared before District Judge Pam Fletcher on Wednesday.

According to deputies in January 2016, Intelisano and another suspect shot Frank Thomas, 61, multiple times.

In an emotional testimony on the second day, the jury learned more details about the relationship between Intelisano and the murder victim Frank Thomas.
Through witness testimony, Frank's wife, Sheila, painted a picture to the jury of how both men helped each other, worked on various projects and became friends as neighbors. But at some point, before Frank's death in January 2016, their relationship went downhill.
She told the jury that Frank no longer saw eye to eye and was not getting paid for work done. As a result, she said Frank felt used.
Frank Thomas was shot multiple times according to deputies, and was conscious when police arrived. He didn't die until two weeks after the shooting.
His widow told the jury she wanted continue fighting for his life and made the decision to move Frank from a Tyler hospital to one in City of Houston. It was there in the Tyler hospital, a ranger questioned Frank Thomas for details on how he was shot. The ranger told the jury that Thomas identified Intelisano as one of the suspects and he identified the second suspect as Brandon Hill.
The defense attempted to discredit the wife's testimony, asking details on the victim's overall health and history of diabetes.

At one point during the wife's testimony she began crying and several family members were also overwhelmed with emotion.

The trial will resume tomorrow morning in Houston County beginning at 9 a.m.

Intelisano could face up to 99 years in prison if convicted.

Jury selection for Hill's trial is scheduled for Oct. 16.
