Forty-seven-year-old Jason Simms is recovering at University Medical Center after a crash just before 6 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 50th Street and Interstate 27.
Police were called to the scene to find Simms trapped in his pickup truck, according to a Lubbock Police Department news release. An initial investigation has found Simms was driving north on the interstate access road when his truck hit another pickup that was stopped at a red light.
The truck Simms hit then hit another SUV and a passenger car that was also stopped at a red light. When emergency officials arrived they worked to free Simms from his vehicle and took him to UMC with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation into this crash is currently ongoing and charges are possible.
