MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

The Midland Rockhounds kicked off a lengthy stretch of games on Wednesday night at Security Bank Ballpark.

Their game against the Corpus Christi Hooks marked the first day of 26 games in 26 days on the Rockhounds schedule.

Manager Scott Steinmann said this sort of schedule will give his players an idea as to how it'll be in the Big Leagues.

"You dangle that carrot of you gotta want to play in the big leagues and in the big leagues they play a longer season than they do here, so they need to sustain it here so they can do it up there. So that's kinda what their job is and they're always trying to sustain that level of excellence," said Steinmann.

The Rockhounds lost their game to the Corpus Christi Hooks 11-6.
