Certification Hearing Set For Juvenile

The Polk County district attorney's office wants a 15-year-old accused of murder tried as an adult. An adult certification hearing is set for October 3rd.

Detectives say the boy shot and killed his own sister, 13-year-old Frankee McCarty, earlier this year in Leggett. He's charged with murder, injury to a child, and tampering with physical evidence.

The boy was sent to a juvenile detention center.

Investigators also arrested and charged his mother. Kimberly McCarty is accused of making firearms accessible to a minor.
