Courthouse Security Introduced

Getting into the Nacogdoches County courthouse will soon be more difficult. Phase One of a 'courthouse security plan' has now been introduced.

Most employees can go through all restricted doors with the swipe of a security card. But the public will be limited to only one entrance and exit.

Sheriff thomas kerss explained to county department heads that, "The north most doors, on the northwest side of the tax office will become the single public entry point in the facility." Eventually uniformed deputies will be stationed right inside those northwest doors. Visitors will have to sign in and have a metal detector wand swept over them.
