Lufkin, Longview to renew rivalry on Fox Sports

Coach Todd Quick talks about Lufkin vs Longview getting picked up on TV

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - One of the oldest rivalries in Texas will be televised this August when Longview and Lufkin face off to start the 2018 season.

It will be the 82nd meeting between the two rivals and will be a part of a doubleheader of coverage on opening night. The game will be preceded by Brownwood vs Brock.

Last year, the two teams met in two classic games with the Lobos coming out on top in the first game in Longview 35-16. For an encore, the two teams met in the 6A DII Region III final in front of a capacity crowd at Stephen F. Austin State University. Longview won the final game, and the final score was 33-22.

Because of the double header format, the time of the game at Lobo Stadium has been changed to 8:38 pm.
