Food, clothing, and supplies are still being donated to survivors of Hurricane Katrina, but many East Texans made a different kind of donation Tuesday.
The Angelina County Courthouse held a blood drive for Katrina evacuees. Organizers hope the drive will keep the city prepared for any other disaster or emergency. The donations will also be saved for future hospital needs.
Blood donor, Al Charanza, said, "Giving blood's very easy. I've been donating 22 years and it's free and you can do it every two months. It's a way to give back to the community and give blood to someone who needs it more than I do."
