National Student Day Of Prayer

by Ramonica R. Jones

East Texas students were up bright and early Wednesday morning - not for first period, but for the Annual Day of Student Prayer.

Students at Lufkin Middle School prayed for their school, nation, and a strong Christian background. The student-led program included songs, scripture readings, and poems.

Faculty, staff, and parents also attend the events each year.

Brian Roy said his classmates prayed for "The disasters that have been going on in the Gulf Coast; just praying that whatever goes on in our schools will be for Christ, not for anything else."

'See You at the Pole' is held the same day every year across the country.
