SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Center man who allegedly exposed a 1-year old child to methamphetamine has been indicted.
47-year old Aubrey Graves was indicted on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child.
According to judicial records, a Shelby County Grand Jury found that Graves "intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence, put a child younger than 15-years of age in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment" by allegedly exposing the child to methamphetamine.
A press release from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said in December of 2017, a court order was sent to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office indicating that a 1-year old child was to be removed from the custody of Graves and 32-year old Jessica Hedges.
Investigator Chad Brown with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office tracked Graves and Hedges down to a motel in San Augustine on Dec. 20, 2017, and SASCO deputies detained them and CPS took custody of the child, a press release stated.
A day later, a hair sample taken from the child tested positive for methamphetamine, the press release stated.
Arrest warrants were issued for Graves and Hedges on Jan. 11. They were arrested on the charges in San Augustine County on Jan. 12.
