SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Shreveport Police Department has released the names of two patrolmen involved in the fatal shooting of a man.

The officers have been identified as Cody Walsworth and Gregory Washington. According to the release, Walsworth was hired by the department in August 2014, Washington in July 2016.

The shooting happened Tuesday, August, 7 near the intersection of Olive and Line in Shreveport's Highland neighborhood.

Records show the events started unfolding with a call around 5:00 p.m. about a suspicious vehicle at Southern at Sheridan avenues, according to Caddo 911 dispatch records.

Twenty minutes later, the Shreveport Fire Department sent five units to a medical emergency about one mile away on Olive, near the Circe K.

The Impala's driver, now identified as 26-year-old Michael Eugene Ducote, of the 9800 block of Crow Road in Shreveport, refused to stop and led police on a brief chase that ended when the sedan crashed, authorities explained.

Ducote died just before 8 p.m. Tuesday at University Health in Shreveport, the coroner's office reports.

Neither officer was injured during the incident, which remains under investigation.

Both officers were placed on paid departmental leave by Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump pending an investigation into the shooting.
