LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A man suffered serious injuries Tuesday night after a car pulled out from a private driveway and into the path of the motorcycle he was driving, according to the Lufkin Police Department.
Jessica Pebsworth, a spokeswoman for the Lufkin Police Department, said Wednesday morning, that the motor-cycle car wreck occurred in the 2200 block of Atkinson Drive at about 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.
The wreck occurred when Crystal Tovar pulled out of her driveway on Atkinson Drive in a Dodge Challenger and drove into the path of a westbound motorcycle, Pebsworth said.
The Lufkin Police Department is not releasing the name of the motorcycle driver at this time. He was taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for treatment of serious injuries.
Pebsworth said the motorcycle driver was later airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment of his injuries.
"As of 8:45 a.m., he remained there in critical condition," Pebsworth said. "We will continue to check in with hospital staff throughout the day for updates on his status."
Tovar was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a private drive and no insurance. She was not physically injured in the crash, Pebsworth said.
The crash remains under investigation.
