Lufkin Students Won't Have To Make Up Missed Days

Many area schools remained closed Monday because of the storm. Schools in the Lufkin district will be closed until at least Thursday.

Students will not have to make up those missed class days, and school will still end in May as scheduled. Teachers in the L.I.S.D. now have limited resources because of Saturday's storms and there are still several campuses in the district without power.

Superintendent Roy Knight, said, "We've been in contact with the commissioner of education and at this point in time, she has given us permission to waive all days that we missed because of our current circumstance. What we anticipated would happen in Houston instead has happened in Lufkin, Texas, so at this point, we're not required to use our weather days. We still have cold weather coming and we might have to use those at that point in time."
