NEWTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 37-year-old Orange woman died after she was struck by a train near Deweyville in Newton County late Sunday night.

A spokeswoman for the Newton County Sheriff's Office said the woman who was killed has been identified as Amanda Lynn Burns.

The incident occurred on the Kansas City Railroad tracks near County Road 4181 at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday night.

The train's conductor told authorities that he spotted Burns jogging or running along the railroad tracks, the NCSO spokeswoman said. He blew his horn, but there was no response from Burns.
