SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A train derailment is causing a roadblock in San Augustine County.

Four freight trains derailed at about 9 a.m. Friday, causing a roadblock on FM 2213 in San Augustine County, according to Joe Faust, a spokesperson with BSNF Railway.  Two of the derailed cars are on their side while two others are upright.

A reporter on the scene says the roadblock is about a quarter mile from Highway 96, south of the city of San Augustine. According to Faust, the derailment occurred near the city of Venable.

TxDOT Lufkin reports that FM 2213 will remain closed for at least five hours as crews work to clear the scene. Faust said a crew from Houston is arriving to aid with the cleanups. Local law enforcement is also on the scene aiding with the road closures.

TxDOT advised motorists to prepare to take alternate routes.

According to Faust, there were no injuries or hazmat situations reported. One train car was carrying a load of lumber.
