89-year-old woman dies after 1-vehicle rollover wreck in Jasper County

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An 89-year-old San Augustine woman has died as a result of her injuries after a one-vehicle rollover wreck that occurred on U.S. Highway 96 in Jasper County Monday afternoon.

According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to and investigated the wreck, which occurred on Highway 96 just south of RR 225 at about 2:15 p.m.

The preliminary crash report shows that Linda Bradford, 52, of San Augustine, was driving a 2016 BMW passenger vehicle north on Highway 96. 
Because of the rainy weather and wet road conditions, Linda Bradford lost control and went off the road, the press release. The vehicle rolled over before it came to rest in a ditch.

Linda Bradford was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She has since been transported to a hospital in Houston for further treatment, the press release stated.

Mamie Bradford, the passenger in the BMW was pulled from the vehicle and taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital. She died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the crash, and Justice of the Peace Ronny Billingsley pronounced her dead at the hospital.

"At this time, DPS cannot confirm the relationship between the occupants of the vehicle," the press release stated.

The wreck is still under investigation.
