Evacuees Moving Out Of School Facilities

by Ramonica R. Jones

Storm evacuees in Lufkin are no longer staying in school shelters. The locations they're headed to are not being disclosed, but city leaders say they are safe and secure shelters.

Deputy Superintendent Roy Knight said, "We'll spend the next two or three days rearranging our campuses - cleaning, disinfecting, making them safe for our kids and expect to start school Monday. No one is required to come to school - not teaching staff or otherwise; they need to tend to their own family needs at this point in time."

Again, the Lufkin school district is set to re-open to students, faculty, and staff Monday morning.
