International Paper Mill Is Still Closed

by Ramonica R. Jones

Some East Texas students have been out of school all week, but many of their parents have also been out of a job since the storm hit.

International Paper has set up several information centers in areas hit hard by the storm. IP mills in Groveton, Lufkin, Woodville, Livingston, and Corrigan-Camden are shut down because of power outages. The centers are now available to help temporarily out-of-work IP employees learn about their options.

Tom Nutting, regional services manager for International Paper, said, "Any of our employees who need information about the benefits that they do have - employment benefits, employee relief benefits - basically, we're just trying to get information out to them and also give them an update on what's going on at the mill."

The IP information centers are open Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For more updates, call 1-800-852-2617.
