Lufkin Hospital Receives "Nurse Friendly" Award

by Jessica Cervantez

Administrators at Woodland Heights Memorial say awards like the "nurse friendly" award help in recruiting nurses. Especially, when hospitals have a nursing shortage.

It shows that nurses enjoy the environment they work in and the patients they serve.

Cathy Busbee, the chief nursing officer, said the nurses like the flexibility in their schedule, they work in a safe environment, and they like to be involved in the decisions of their organizations.

The only other hospital in the East Texas area also name "nurse friendly" was in Woodville.
