United Way Is Closer To Its Goal

by Ramonica R. Jones

The United Way in Angelina County is a little closer to this year's fundraising goal.

Friday was the first sign painting since the campaign kicked off just days ago. The barometer indicates the agency has already met eight percent of its goal.

Campaign chair, Yana Ogletree, said, "We're very pleased with that because we were at eight percent this time last year and considering everything that we have gone through with the storms and so forth, we're very happy that we're at eight percent."

This year's goal is $640,000. The United Way's annual campaign benefits 23 groups in Angelina County that need help with funding.
