Red Cross Helping Storm Victims In Lufkin

Many evacuees looking for help spent the day visiting with the Red Cross in Lufkin. Volunteers are still experiencing long lines at the relief center at the federal building. However, organizers say they are getting people in and out in only a matter of minutes despite the lines.

The Red Cross is giving out funds to displaced evacuees to help them get by until checks come from FEMA. So far, they have been seeing about 1,400 evacuees a day. They plan to be open everyday until there is no longer a need.
