Local Red Cross Efforts Praised

Local Red Cross volunteers and staff members have been working around the clock since August 29th caring for Katrina and Rita victims. Their hard work is not going unnoticed by the National Red Cross representatives.

Still, local Red Cross staffers are busy answering phones and going out of their way to help storm victims.

It has been a real team effort since the beginning.

Glenna Harkness, from the local Red Cross chapter, said, "We really appreciate everyone coming together. We still didn't have enough Red Cross to go around, we did what we could, and did the best we could. Hopefully, we won't have this again for awhile."

Workers say they are going to need a major vacation after things slow down.
