Funeral services for Joseph Charles Hamlin, 89, will be held Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Allen Reed of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow atSunsetMemorial Park.
Joseph Charles Hamlin passed away October 5, 2005 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
He was born December 26, 1915 in Coleman, Texas to Marcus Hill Hamlin and Ruby Maedgen Hamlin. Formerly of Houston, he had resided in Nacogdoches for the last 20 years.
Charles was a member of the FirstBaptistChurch and a senior Kiwanis. He was very active in the church and was ordained a deacon in 1951 and served in various churches as Sunday school superintendent, department superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and on various committees. His hobbies were gardening and golf, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Rhiddlehoover Hamlin of Nacogdoches, Texas; sons, Delane Hamlin and wife Kimberly of Burleson, Texas, David Hamlin and wife Darlene of Waco, Texas; Richard Hamlin and wife Judy of Waco, Texas, and Stephen Hamlin and wife Cathy of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Hamlin King and husband Rusty of Florida; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by five brothers.
Pallbearers will be Roger Driggers, Neolin Shiller, Ronnie Collins, Ray Fatheree, Daymon Rambin, and Denny Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Thompson Sunday School Class.
