Alleged Fugitive's Girlfriend Indicted

A woman accused of hiding a fugitive from authorities has been indicted.

Casonya Petties is charged with harboring a fugitive from justice. Her boyfriend, Robert Lee Briggs, Jr., had escaped custody in Livingston soon after he was sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug charges.

The escape happened at the Polk County Courthouse after authorities unlocked his handcuffs so he could go to the rest room.

A Crimestoppers tip led police to Petties' residence in Diboll where Briggs was found.

A Lufkin man accused of causing a deadly wreck has been indicted for intoxication manslaughter. Twenty-two year-old Tyrone Brown reportedly crashed head-on into 44-year-old Wendell Porter on Highway 2497 near Hudson.

Porter died in the July 5th crash. His passenger was also hurt.

Highway troopers say Brown had been drinking before the wreck.
