Girl Scouts Lend A Helping Hand

Most people know the Girl Scouts for their yearly cookie sale, but there's so much more to the hard working Girl Scouts.

Camp Whispering Pines was hit hard by Hurricane Rita.  Debris covers the grounds of the park.

The Girl Scouts usually come to the campground to relax and have a good time, but today would be a day they would lend a helping hand.  Clean up day is not unusual for the girls, but they aren't used to removing tree limbs.

They could have easily hired someone to clean up the camp for the girls, but that's just not the Girl Scouts way.  Tracy Gillin, a Girl Scout leader, says, "This is the girls' camp.  We want them to feel ownership in it and it belongs to them, so they come out and help us clean it up."
