Nacogdoches city commissioners have agreed to table the issue concerning the nonpayment of medical expenses from city commissioner Mary Cartwright. City Manager Jim Jeffers tells us the commissioners will take a look at the total medical expenses for Cartwright.
Jeffers says Cartwright received an insurance check for $5,000 after falling during a business trip in 2002. She was given a year to pay back $1,400 to the city.
Cartwright has now agreed to pay a portion of the city's expenses, knowing those expenses were well over the $5,000 she received from the insurance company. A commissioner indebted to the city could be convicted of a misdemeanor and be removed from office.
